Week 1.

Week one has come and gone in a flash. It seemed to go by faster for me due to some clerical issues with enrollment not allowing me to start until mid-week, but I made it!

So far, there isn’t much to speak about on this UX journey. The main thing that stuck with me this week was a TED Talk by Tony Fadell. In his talk, and I will paraphrase, he uses the example of the sticker on an apple of something poorly designed. He refers to having to carefully peel the sticker off with your fingernail, then try to roll it up and flick it away with some issue; and it got me thinking about how poorly designed or how little something as simple as a fruit sticker application was thought through before being approved, created and produced on a MASSIVE scale.

After his talk concluded we were left to think about what else there is out there that might be poorly executed or designed. In my short career as an industrial designer, I have already stumbled across many issues with how things function or were designed and it has me excited to be pursuing UX design so I can hopefully fix existing design flaws and create new wonderful experiences for anyone who may come across them.

Week one is in the books, and the start of my UX journey has begun.
